In Beijing, the owner of a Christian bookstore has been sentenced to three years in prison and $20,000 in fines. It’s for printing and circulating copies of the Bible. According to a Voice of America report, on June 10 a Beijing court convicted 38-year-old Shi Weihan of conducting so-called “illegal business activities.”
Shi is the leader of a house church, choosing to practice his religion outside the CCP’s state-run brand of Christianity.
The Voice of America report says Shi’s family is surprised by the harsh sentence and is worried for his safety. Shi has severe diabetes and has not had consistent access to his medication while in police custody.
