12 Die in China Coal Mine Explosion

An explosion Wednesday at a coalmine in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region killed at least 12 workers.
According to reports from state-run media, workers were using dynamite to blast rocks at the Dafeng Mine in the city of Shizuishan, when the dynamite went off unexpectedly.
Seven miners are recovering in hospital, and two others remain missing. But concerns over unexploded dynamite in the mine are hampering search efforts.
More workers die in coalmines in China than any in any other country—largely because of corruption and poor safety standards.
