British Foreign Secretary David Miliband is on a two-day trip in Moscow. On November 2, he met with former Soviet Union leader Mikhail Gorbachev and the editorial staff of the opposition newspaper, Novaya Gazeta, which Gorbachev partly owns.
Miliband stated that the UK and Russia can work together and improve relations despite some setbacks in the past.

“I don’t accept that we are in deep freeze. As an economic partnership we are stronger than before, this visit is about giving new drive and new depth to the relationship.”

Miliband is on the first full visit to Russia by a British Foreign Secretary to Moscow since 2004.
Earlier on November 2, he met his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov and called for a fresh approach to relations with Russia as the two countries try to move beyond a bitter row over the murder of a Kremlin critic in London three years ago.
