Another top executive in China is facing corruption charges. Kang Rixin is the head of China National Nuclear Corporation and a member of Communist Party Central Committee. He’s being investigated for accepting bribes and wasting state funds.
Kang is the man responsible for overseeing China’s nuclear power plant expansion as well as its nuclear weapons arsenal—and he came into the position on a pledge to make the state-run nuclear conglomerate into a profitable business.
According to unnamed sources quoted in China Business News Daily and the business journal Caijing, Mr. Kang is accused of mishandling $263 million—investing and losing it in the stock market.
If Mr. Kang is convicted he will become the next in an increasingly long line of high-up officials to lose their jobs to corruption scandals.
