Deadly Floods Hit China

Stranded drivers wait to be rescued after days of torrential rain. Hundreds of thousands of people across China’s southwestern and central provinces are facing chaos as whole towns are flooded.
Chinese state TV says at least 17 people have been killed in the storms which have also toppled houses and washed away cars.
The rains are a mixed blessing for some farmers.
They’ve already suffered months of drought.
Now their crops are being destroyed by the muddy flood water.
