Floods Force Thousands from Homes in Southern China

China’s state-run media report floods and heavy rainfall killed six and stranded thousands of others in Hunan Province.
In Fenghuang County, torrential rains caused a local river to overflow.
In Jishou City, a man and a child were trapped under a bridge as water levels rose.
The extreme weather conditions in Hunan have displaced 100,000 people.
Rainstorms had been ravaging southwestern and central China since Monday, stranding thousands and prompting authorities to warn of rain-triggered landslides and more flooding in the region.
Flooding and landslides killed 53 people in Guangxi Province since May. Weather forecasters predict more heavy rainfall in the coming days.
