Shen Yun attracted huge crowds at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C. Among them was Mark Hanskins a TV audio engineer who mixes sound for television programs.
[Mark Hanskins, TV Audio Engineer]:
“I can’t believe they turn out something this good on a yearly basis. I am astounded how they keep it fresh every year.”
He says Shen Yun’s production standards are very high.
[Mark Hanskins, TV Audio Engineer]:
“Oh, the production, absolute tops. Yes, I wasn’t sure what to expect coming in but it really hit everything perfectly. The dancing, the drumming, the singing, the orchestra, the music performance. It was all just amazingly good.”
Mr. Hanskins was happy to see China’s traditional culture on stage, something that has been suppressed since the Cultural Revolution. He hopes that culture will one day be revived in mainland China.
[Mark Hanskins, TV Audio Engineer]:
“There is quite a message of a culture being repressed. And I am glad it can find expression here. And it would be nice if it could find expression back in its native land.”
Shen Yun is next performing in Greensboro, North Carolina, on September 4, and have shows later in the month in Portland, Maine.
