World Health Organization Director-General, Margaret Chan says governments should remain vigilant in order to avoid any surprises.
[Margaret Chan, Director-General, WHO]:
“This meeting is all about vigilance, taking stock of what we have learned and preparing for whatever surprises this precious new virus delivers next.”
Chan says adults with a high fever that lasts for more than three days should seek help, and children who have difficulty waking up, are lethargic or are no longer alert may also need extra care. Caregivers should be alert for warning signs of severe cases. But Chan also says most patients experience mild symptoms. They usually make a full recovery within a week without the need for medication.
