More than 5,000 people have been evacuated from the flood stricken North Korean city of Shinuiju.
The Amnok River has submerged much of the city.
Upstream in China’s Dandong area, flooding from the swollen river, called the Yalu in Chinese and the Amnok in Korean, forced the evacuation of 94,000 people before the floods reached Shinuiju.
Local weather stations forecast a further 10 inches of rain for Dandong over the next 24 hours which is more bad news for Shinuiju.
Massive flooding in recent years has left hundreds of people dead or missing in North Korea.
The country can barely feed its 23 million people even with a good harvest.
This flood will in turn reduce harvests and worsen food shortages.
