Northern China Plagued by Drought

Dry conditions over the past month, have hit parts of Liaoning and Shanxi provinces, as well as Inner Mongolia over the past month.
Almost four million people and over four million head of livestock have been short of drinking water.
Despite rains that brought relief in some areas, crops are still threatened.
Heavy rains are expected, but local authorities are being urged to do their best to secure water for drinking, and to irrigate crops.
About half of northern China’s total farmland, has been affected by the drought.
