Spain: Bomb Targets Police

(NTDTV)
Residents of the Spanish city Burgos awake to find scenes of devastation.
A car bomb exploded during the early hours of the morning outside the Civil Guard barracks.
The building is home to Spain’s paramilitary police force.
Over 100 people live here, among them many children.
This amateur footage captured the aftermath of the blast.
Spanish authorities say ETA, the separatist group campaigning for an independent Basque state, is behind the attack.
Spain’s Interior Minister, Alfredo Perez Rubalcaba described their acts as murderous, savage and crazy.
Residents here can’t believe what’s happened.

“I was awake and then I saw a huge light and something like thunder. I thought it was a storm. But after a while all the glass exploded, all the glass in the house, and then I realized what it was, given that we have the Civil Guard so nearby.”

ETA is held responsible for the deaths of 800 people over the past four decades.
The group usually targets police and army barracks with shootings or bombs.
Recently, their operation has been weakened by high profile arrests like that of one of its suspected top commanders, Jurdan Martigegi in April.
Authorities say the group is under pressure to show it can still strike.
