Tourists are flocking to India’s northern hill resort to get a taste of a wacky new sport called zorbing. Apparently, it’s a thrilling experience to roll down a slope inside a large plastic ball.
India’s northern state of Himachal Pradesh is a popular tourist destination because of its lush green valley and hills. But what attracts many young tourists to this nature’s paradise now is the excitement of zorbing.
Zorbing originated in the land of adventure sports, New Zealand. In this sport, one rolls down a slope in a large ball known as a zorb, which is made of PVC plastic.
The rider is strapped inside the transparent inflatable ball and then pushed from a slope. While rolling, the zorb can pick up a speed of 40 kilometers an hour.
[Rishu, Tourist]:
“I enjoyed it a lot. Because zorbing is like, there are not many adventure sports in India. I had a good experience here in Kullu-Manali.”
Though most people are sceptical at first, they eventually find it to be a lot of fun.
[Mihir Patel, Tourist]:English
“I came here for the first time and found zorbing ball was a great adventure for me. I just did it five-ten minutes ago. It was truly a roller coaster ride for me. Me and my brother enjoyed a lot. I’ve never expected that I will do zorbing ball here, but I found it really nice and wanted to try it more.”
Many hope that the novelty of zorbing will help to boost tourism in the northern Himachal Pradesh.
